New travelblog URL

Hi all,

Flights are booked and I was prepping a blogging post to record our itinerary. Then I realized I had to check out some other blogging sites that have a few features which are more suitable for a travel blog (e.g. map for itinerary, unlimited pics and videos). So here's the new address as this blog will be superseded:
http://www.offexploring.com/michadevries

You can also post messsages on that site etc.

We are leaving next Wednesday. First destination Dehli (pass-through) to get us to Nepal for our first real travel destination. It's gonna be freezing cold, what's wrong with that picture (leaving London UK for a cold place?).

Blog ya later!

Different World

Hi all,

I finished my job last Friday so should reserve a bit more time to keep you posted on the travel preparations. It is weird to really not have to think about and go to work anymore: it's a good weird, not a bad one.

We are still busy with the final preparations for the trip: will seems to be sorted now, still frequenting the GP and travel clinics for the final shots of some vaccination series and it seems that we can finally book the flights today. Anticipated departure during the week of November the 10th. Bring it on.

Luggage seems now to be the biggest concern: can we fit everything into our 2 smaller bag packs and the additional duffel bag? It's gonna be an interesting puzzle to solve.

Will keep you all posted!

F**k it, we're going whatever!

LONDON

There are many reasons to NOT go on this trip: after having struggled for the past 8 weeks with HCPs, pharmacies, couriers, embassies, consulates, customs, pharmaceutical companies and whoever else (must have been on the phone for at tens of hours, wrote tons of emails) we have decided to go anyway despite the fact that no one really has been willing to assist us in getting the logistics of my medical supplies arranged.
We are going, I am taking as much supplies with me as possible and when running out go to the local GPs to attempt to get my supplies top-up arranged. Worst case have to suspend my trip and pay for the flight back home to do it: rules, regulations, paperwork, lack of understanding (listening?), trying to make some extra money out of me has really gotten on my nerves. For all of you not being any help and only telling me what I have to comply with cause you can't think outside of box. That's apparently the reason why I pay all of this tax money: NOT to be helped! A big F you: I'm determined to go and I will!

Therefore a message of frustration as it is a relief that we have agreed that we are going despite all of this. Rest of the world here we come!

Micha

p.s. an apology for those that have been really trying to help me, in particular the folks at Diabetes Careline UK!

Finally: setting up the blog

LONDON on a rainy saturday afternoon!

It's about time that I am setting up a blog so that we can share our experiences just before, during and after our planned trip round the 'world'. So here it is: more posts and pics will follow over time but this way all our friends will be able to stay in touch with us so we can rub it in when they envy the fact that we are there and they are still here.

Anyway: we will be in touch and let you all know about the existence of this blog!

Micha

BTW the preparations are quite challenging, but more about that later!
